When I told friends and family that I was heading to Brazil, the usual response was, "Oh, you're going to love Rio."
When I explained that I wasn't going to Rio, the second response was "Yes, but the beaches are beautiful in Brazil."
But, I was going nowhere near a beach or an ocean or any kind of coastal area. I was heading to a town, 90 minutes southwest of Brazil's capital city of Brasilia. I was going to Abadiania, a small community in central Brazil, in the rain forest, to spend two weeks with world-renowned healer John of God.
That's when the questions really started:
"Why, are you sick?"
"What the hell are you doing that for?"
At first, I had the same questions.
It all started after watching an episode of Oprah. Yes, I admit it. I used to watch Oprah from time to time. One of Oprah's producers had visited Abadiania and had remarkable things to say about her experience. I didn't really think much about it, but my wife Angela said that one day we would go to Brazil. Shortly after that, Angela watched a documentary with self-help author Dr. Wayne Dyer. He was diagnosed with leukaemia and had surgery performed by John of God. However, it was a "spiritual surgery". At the time, Dyer was in Maui and John of God was in Brazil. Dyer states that he is now healed.
That was enough for my wife.
"Jeff, can we go to Brazil," she asked me while I was out gardening in the backyard.
"Sure," I replied. "What for?"
Our adventure was about to begin. And unknown to us, the moment you put out the intention to visit John of God, the healing entities (spirits) have already begun to work on you.
