Cobourg was the centre of the hockey universe on Saturday when the Stanley Cup and hometown hockey star Justin Williams came to town. Following a parade down King Street which attracted thousands of locals and visitors, Williams took to the stage in the band shell at Victoria Park.
Not only was Williams part of the Stanley Cup winning Los Angeles Kings, he was also named MVP of the playoffs with nine goals and 16 assists. This was also Williams third Stanley Cup win.
Riding down King Street on a float, Williams was accompanied by his wife Kelly, son Jaxon and daughter Jade. Williams was also accompanied by some important hardware, Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe Trophy (awarded to the most valuable player of the playoffs) and Clarence S. Campbell Bowl (the Western Conference championship trophy).
